Category: What's New

February 15th, 2007
Motoko, along with 11 other artists from the Sunshine Coast, are participating in this worthwhile event. The following is Motoko's Artist's Statement.

"Thank you for this opportunity to be part of your project to raise awareness of breast cancer.  I wanted this torso to have my favorite flower the chrysanthemum as the main focus.   To me, this proud looking flower represents strength and grace.

I used the colour mauve and other flowers with the chrysanthemum to create a design which expressed femininity and sensuality.

This torso expresses inner beauty and strength, qualities that all women possess.

I would like to acknowledge everyone who participated in this event including 11 other female Sunshine Coast artists and the event organizer.  I believe every community effort like this will make us one step closer to our future without breast cancer.

Motoko"

For complete information, please see the following Press Release by organizer, Kathy Lewis

"Sunshine Dragons Abreast is a group of 32 women living with breast cancer, on the Sunshine Coast, who love to paddle a dragon boat.

Our mission statement:
To promote breast cancer awareness and encourage work to eradicate this disease.
To demonstrate that there is fun-filled and abundant life after a breast cancer diagnosis.
To offer women living with breast cancer on the Sunshine Coast the opportunity to be active participants in the now worldwide breast cancer dragon boat paddling movement.
To have "outrageous pink fun".
